The Latin name for cornflower 'Centaurea Cyanus' refers to the mythical centaur Cheiron. After it was hit with a poison dart, it punctured the wound with this flower. Once he noticed the healing power of the cornflower, he was called the discoverer of the cornflower.

The vase is made in clear glass and patinated with blue patina.
