Avalon, in this saga, is a "hidden in the mists" place accessible only to those who can summon the magic boat and find the island. According to the legend, this is the island where King Arthur rests after his wounding by Mordred at the Battle of Camlann, after being taken there by his half-sister Morgan le Fay or three other priestesses. According to some legends, he rests there until he awakens again to save England. According to the same legend, Avalon is the island where Excalibur (a sword) was once forged.
