The name of this perfume is a reference to the brand Parfums d'Orsay and to the fragrant substance 'amber gris' from Siam, today's Thailand. The niches on the corners of the bottle are decorated with so-called Siamese (now Thailand) temple goddesses, including the earth goddess Mae Thorani. The design dates from 1914, which may just be considered to be the period of art nouveau. This period is a model for the inspiration from nature, classical antiquity and oriental mysticism.
The bottle is blown into a mould of black glass to protect the perfume from light.
